Bundle
Also called: Kit
A bundle is several products sold together as one line, either kept as its own stock or drawn from the parts.
A gift set of three. One thing to buy, three things on the shelf, and that gap is where the counting goes wrong.
Two ways to hold one
As its own product. You make the sets up in advance and count them like anything else. Simple, and the components leave your count when you build them.
As a linked bundle. Shopify sells one line and takes stock from each component’s inventory item. Nothing is made up in advance, and availability follows whichever component is shortest.
The first suits a Christmas set you assemble once. The second suits a bundle that is really just a discount.
Pick before you launch
Switching later means recounting both the bundle and every component on the same day, with selling stopped.
Where it goes wrong
A bundle is built as its own product and the components are never deducted. You now have twelve sets on the shelf and Shopify still thinks it has all thirty-six items that went into them, so stock accuracy drops on four lines at once.
The other one is a bundle sold at a good discount that quietly clears your fastest variant. The set sells, the component runs out, and the line that was funding the shop is gone for three weeks.

Variant
A variant is one buyable version of a Shopify product, such as the blue medium. Stock, price and barcode all live on the variant.
Inventory item
An inventory item is the countable half of a variant. Stock levels attach to it, one per location, not to the variant itself.
Stock accuracy
Stock accuracy is how often the number on screen matches the number on the shelf, counted line by line rather than in total.
